New allergy.

Allergy reaction. AGAIN.
And apparently, this allergy happens to be a new one. Just what I need - one more food allergy to add to my increasing repertoire of multiple allergies.
Daddy brought the family for a buffet dinner at The Line - a restaurant supposedly known for it’s wide spread of seafood and other international delights, and the cost coming up to $116 per person (all taxes included).
Yes, I know. Ouch.
The first thing I dived for was the seafood. The lobster, to be exact. Took a couple of mouthfuls before I realized that something was amiss. My cheeks were starting to feel a teeny bit itchy. Shrugged it aside and continued chewing, and the itching intensified roughly a minute later.
Switched to something else (yummy sushi!) before reverting back to my half-eaten lobster. The itching, which was initially beginning to subside a little, returned in full force - this time spreading all over the lower half of my face. Throat began to feel itchy as well.
I began scratching, and my parents looked up, concerned.
That was when I decided to spill the beans. I am allergic to something in the darn restaurant. And I have completely lost my appetite for anything else by then. All I wanted to do was to scratch, scratch and scratch.
Worse still, I didn’t have my antihistamines with me. Finished the last pill a couple of days ago and forgot to replenish my supply. Yay, go me.
The rest of the time, I was struggling not to cough up a storm while my parents ate. (I was spying a certain lady from the next table who was constantly staring at me as if I was an invalid. PAH. I was really tempted to cough louder just to annoy her.)
So, my $116 dinner comprised of a (half) lobster, some sushi, and lots of water. (Apparently, swallowing water helped drown out the itch in my throat … sort of.)
The most pricey lobster I ever had.
Rushed to the clinic immediately after dinner.
My favourite doctor confirmed that it was indeed an allergy. But since I hadn’t ingested anything that I was known to be allergic to, the suspicion lay on the sushi and the lobster, predominantly the lobster.
Which is really odd, because I’ve eaten lobster before (albeit not very often) without anything of this sort happening.
Diagnosed as a probably allergy to shellfish now, on top of my other allergies comprising peanuts, tree nuts (general), tea, plasticine, dust mites, animal fur, food colouring, ragweed and well, the list goes on and on.
No need for allergy tests in the meantime though. (Pheee-ew.)
But I have been prescribed a new antihistamine called Ketotifen on top of my usual nightly Cetrizine pills. Am hesitating to try the new drug though. :(
Ah well, more singing later. (In the afternoon. It’s 3.26 A.M. presently!) Hopefully, I’ll be up to it by then.

I’m still in ’sticker shock’, about the cost for the meals per person! Must have been a fancy place!
That’s odd how you got an allergic reaction to the lobster though, if you’ve eaten it with no troubles before. Maybe, the lobster came in contact with something else you are allergic to, like peanut oil, perhaps.
Hopefully the new medication will do some good!
oh. I’m allergic to seafood too. and what’s worse? chicken. God. weird enough, the itching is mainly on my face. and I haven’t replenish my pills too. I’m kinda freak out to tell my mum cause she might explode when she found out that I haven’t been taking my meds for like.. uh..weeks. but I’ve been avoiding those foods. :)
how unfortunate.
and oh, I wasn’t allergic to seafood before. I’ve eaten lobster and many otehr seafoods. but I’m allergic to it since like 2 years back. I have a friend, who was never allergic to seafood but then a months ago, I got a call from her and she said that she’s allergic to seafood. she got this rashes and the whole itchy stuffs. yeah, weird case.
anyways, I hope your drugs make you feel better.
oh dear. are you feeling better now? you looked
pretty okay when I saw you last night. which reminds
me, it was nice bumping into you! haha.
I’m slightly allergic (at times) to certain seafood
that’s why I hesitate a lot to eat them sometimes
since I don’t like scratching for days and having
red splashes and spots on my arms x_X
I’m free of allergies…woo…sorry, not helping. Ahem…I hope you’re not allergic to anything else because you seem to have it bad already.
I hope you’re feeling a lot better. Good to know you didn’t have to take any allergy tests :).
wah. another allergy? Poor you. Are you the only one in your family to have so many allergies?
OH NO… take care of yourself… i also have that itchy feeling whenever i eat crabs!
Oh that is really annoying. I hope it’s not the sushi, that would be a shame x(

itching inside of your throat must’ve been…quite the experience. o.O my itching spreads quickly. usually covers my entire body from neck down. that was just caused by my meds tho. no lobster has ever done that to me before. *pat pat*
hope the new drugs are more helpful!
p.s. i just realized you took off your splash page! let’s see how it goes. :)
