Travelling to Pulau Sibu, Malaysia with my girls (and several other peeps I barely know) in a matter of fifteen days.
Rather apprehensive as I’m not sure how it’d turn out - a trip among supposedly five people who all know each other (with the family and extended family of one of my best friends) sudden blew out of proportion into one that includes some of her other friends as well.
Not that I mind it, neither am I complaining. I’m fine with new people as I socialize well, but I can’t say the same for certain others. (Somehow, I can’t stop myself from recalling that trip from June 2005 which turned out to be a disaster, because we have several groups of people from different places put together during 4 days, 3 nights.)
Ah, well.
Secondly, I’m a little skeptical about the resort we will be staying in. Still awaiting confirmation regarding exactly which resort we will be staying in. But findings with regard to the vague name I was given yielded two possible places - one which I will describe as being completely tattered and torn (which also has characteristics that apparently matches her description of the place more accurately) and another which is slightly more upmarket, or what I’d describe as bordering on the hinges of definitely livable.
I sure hope it isn’t the former. They only have cold showers and they use ground water. Considering how I have mud allergies and how I have friggin’ asthma which makes me ultra-sensitive to the cold, all my allergy reactions might break out into full force.
Otherwise, I’m more or less looking forward to it.
Especially the bright sunshine, the impeccable, unspoiled white, sandy beaches (or so they proclaim), the spectacular sunrises and sunsets (again, as they proclaim) and well, photography.
Methinks I’d go trigger happy in that place, especially if the scenery turns out to be as good as they claim it to be.
Meanwhile, need to go get me some stuff in preparation for this;
1) Antihistamines
2) See my favourite doc’, to seek advice on asthma/allergy prevention should we really end up living in the ‘torn’ and tattered’ resort with cold, groundwater showers.
3) Mosquito coils
4) Loads of insect repellent
5) A good pair of trekking sandals (The ones I’ve been eyeing for ages was on SALE when I saw them this evening, but unfortunately, they ran out of my size. :( Going to try my luck again tomorrow.) Got ‘em!
At present? Trying to get over a bout of errr … I don’t know. Suffered from very bad headaches + bodyaches for the whole of today with mild-moderate fever. Came this close to fainting while I was out at Parkway Parade with Mummy dearest this evening and conked out completely in the car on the way back.
Plus, I’ve been having really weird dreams as of late - harbouring on the incredible to the incredulous and to the ridiculous.
I’m starting to get really random, which is a sheer indication that I should stop typing and head to bed, non?
Good night, world! And I hope I’ll feel much better tomorrow. (Sans panadol, HATE HATE HATE relying on drugs.)
Regardless of the group of people you are going to be travelling with, I sincerely hope you do have a wonderful trip! My parents are from Malaysia and I remember travelling there to see their home country several times. One time we went to the Islands and stayed in this resort with cold water and ants on the floors of the room. It wasn’t so pleasant… but Sunway Lagoon is my absolute favourite place to stay. Regardless, I’m sure you will have fun with whoever you are going with and making friends with your friend’s friends will be good!
