TitleThe one that stole my heart

While helping a friend tend to a pet shop, I fell head over heels in love with one of its residents … a dark brown long-haired guinea pig – whom I named ‘cocoa latte’ due to its colour.

Just take a look at her.

Guinea pig!
Meet cocoa latte!

It is impossible not to love her. She’s so darned well-behaved – the type that is willing to simply sit on the counter and keep you company, and will not simply scamper away to mind its own business like what guinea pigs usually do.

And when she is held as above, that adorable face is just to-die-for. She looks like a little beaver, and she’s gotten the usually composed yours’ truly to break into a cooing, gushing mess of a young teenage girl in the shop.

I’d be most happy to devote the next 5-7 years of my life looking after her – to feed her, brush her fur and spend quality time with her every single day. Basically, I’m most willing to do what a good guinea pig owner should do and on top of that, fill her adorable little head with loads of kisses and countless nose-nudges.

Being able to look after a little companion like her will also be a good distraction from the usual feeling of helplessness I experience in lieu of my health issues. It’d be good for me, psychologically.

Unfortunately, the superior being at home described cocoa latte as “an ugly, dirty and disgusting little creature” and that she’d poison it should I ever being it home, which broke my heart oh-so badly.

Only the truly heartless can say something as nasty as that.

I am utterly disappointed with you.

Guinea pig (2)!
Cocoa latte – upclose.

My dear little girl, I’m sorry I can’t take you home. But either way, I hope you’d find a good owner who’d take care of you, and will love you as much as I do.

If you’re a responsible pet owner willing to take her, she can be found at Pets Republic at Jurong East Central (Blk 134, Jurong East Street 13, #01-06). She is as of today, slightly more than three months old and costs 100 buckeroos.

Ugly, dirty and disgusting? I’m afraid I also have to disagree with that superior being. Unless one is absolutely strapped for cash, having a pet can have various health benefits to the human (relieving stress, alleviating mood, etc) as well.

That’s right, I call ourselves “humans”, not “owners”. :P

That is the cutest thing, seriously! So sorry that you are not allowed to keep it at home, though; I do hope that furry friend gets a well-deserved “human” soon. Or even better, that the “human” knows you so you can visit like a jillion times a day. =P

She’s adorable! You even have a name for her already?

I would love to have a guinea pig! I have submitted a request to my superior in June but it was rejected as well. :(

I’m so sorry you couldn’t take her in but maybe you can visit her once in while until she’s sold? I hope she will have a caring owner to take care of her. :)

Aww she’s so cute. My husband and I are planning on getting a kitty when we move out. We were both deprived of domestic animals as children due to our mothers being anti-pets. Ah, but hopefully she will get a good home soon!

What a cute little cocoa latte! She’s interesting color. Looks a little bit like a beaver or some other wild forest animal :)

wow. a guinea pig actually cost THAT much? o_O
I honestly never knew that :/

anyway, I’m sorry you couldn’t bring her home. it’s
like how I can’t keep a kitten because my in-laws
wouldn’t have any pets in the house (other than my
current hamster because she IS mine before I married)

AHHHHHH! I still want a kitten ):
