TitleNational Day 2004 Fireworks

National Day Fireworks 2004

The above hath been the results of my two hour wait at a state land near the National Stadium last night, along with hundreds of other cars with their oh-so patient occupants. Unlike other photographers around, I had to make do without a tripod. Hence, I ended up with several blurry images due to my wobbly handling.

My parents and I set off at around 6:00pm to find a suitable place for fireworks-watching. However, several places were already fully occupied despite us reaching more than an hour before the firing time. The beach at Marina Bay was crowded, and the state land was already three-quarters full by the time we reached there. Parking along the Benjamin Sheares Bridge was next to impossible unless one was willing to risk a fine, due to the presence of several traffic policemen around.

Since the area where my father had parked was partially blocked by the trees, I got out and started to scout around for a good spot at around 7:50pm. When the fireworks finally started at 8:00pm, I was had a birds eye view of the whole scene, using the hood of a parked car nearby as a tripod for my photography attempts.

After which, we were trapped for one hour in a massive traffic jam along the ECP Expressway, along with several other fireworks-watchers who were eager to proceed home.

As the TPJC Bowling Open would be held tomorrow, most of today had been spent on intensive training. Bowled a total of five games two hours ago, with an average of 153, and a high score of 193. Yours truly had been really pleased the results, and I certainly wish that I can perform just as well tomorrow.

Had been conversing with one of my teammates for tomorrow’s event, and she brought up one issue which has been bothering me during most bowling trainings — my attitude. I tend to be emotional whenever I bowl, to an extent that I let my emotions affect my overall performance. According to her, I tend to fumble and make more mistakes when I am either in a bad mood, or downcast, and this can affect the performance of the rest of the team as a whole.

To quote her exact words: “You must keep your cool, no matter what. If not, it will affect everyone.

Yes, I would keep calm tomorrow. Retain my composure for the whole of tomorrow morning, so that I would be relaxed enough to bowl well tomorrow. I would not let my teammate down!

TitleFamily gone car-azy

The past two months have seen two new additions to my small family. When I mention “new additions”, I do not mean a birth announcement. Both my parents have found their new babies which would bring them much happiness and enjoyment for the next five years at least.

My father purchased his ‘baobei‘ in late April this year, and my mother’s ‘darling‘ arrived barely three days ago. I am extremely envious of the both of them because they have the finances to own their own vehicles, and are able to travel anywhere, anytime, and at their free will.

*Sniff sniff* I wonder when would I ever get my own.

In the past, I used to hear both of them squabbling over who gets to drive our previous family car. But these days, I am expecting to hear the opposite. Now, I think both of them would start squabbling about who gets to drive who out.

On another note, I apologise for neglecting this webjournal for the past three days. I, myself have also noticed that my entries are becoming less and less frequent, and this is due to my preparation for the upcoming common tests and restructuring of my secondary domain. In fact, all restructuring for Onesidedmind.Org are already completed, considering that I had been working on it continuously for the past four hours. Your opinions would be much appreciated.

TitleAn Expensive Hobby

At the moment, I am seated at the computer, typing out this entry in a state of semi-consciousness. It had been an extremely hectic day which began with the General Paper Common Test. In short, I doubt I would do well for the paper because I had completely messed up on the Application Question section. Furthermore, I had also been struggling for time as I didn’t have siffucient time to complete the whole of Paper 2 itself. Thankfully, Paper 1 hadn’t been as challenging as compared to the second one, so I am expecting a better grade on that.

Recently, I am starting to have a strange obsession with those coloured plastic bottles. I had just purchased two more this evening, adding to a grand total of four. I would love to collect every single one of the available colours, but that would lead to a draining of my funds and not to mention my mother’s nagging. In fact, she had already nagged at me quite a bit when I bought my latest two bottles today (the first two on the left in the photograph below).

Hopefully, the Great Singapore Sale would enable me to find some cheap bargains for these bottles. It is a ridiculous obsession, I know. And I would get over it soon, I hope, before I wind up with an empty pocket and even more earfuls of my parents’ yammering.

The weather has been extremely fickle-minded these few days, with the sun choosing to make its appearance at certain times of the day before being replaced by gloomy dark thunderclouds. This has been going on for the past few days, and one can never feel safe without the trusty umbrella even though the sun may be shining brightly at that moment. At least the weather hasn’t been as scorching as the previous week.
