Let’s all welcome Belle to the blogosphere.
Yay, this means that another one of my friends has finally gotten herself a blog. More people should blog anyway. - Looks at Mithi at this juncture, who got herself one but has written nothing in it. :(
Anyway, just had to relate a hilarious conversation between mum and me this evening -
Me; referring to the mushrooms in my Mac ‘N’ Cheese, as well as the side order of deep fried mushrooms I decided to have at Swensen’s.
“Oh, these are Shitake mushrooms too, just like the deep-fried mushrooms!”
“I think they came from the same tree,” says Mum.
There was a brief period of silence.
“Mum, mushrooms don’t grow on trees!”
For the record - Mummy dearest convinced me that the above was just a slip of the tongue, as she was trying to affirm that both mushrooms were of the same variety and somehow, the ‘came from the same tree’ bit just slipped out. I still have my doubts though. :P
Later on, on the way back to the carpark;
“I’m quite glad that you decided not to have any more children after me,” says I.
“Why?” Mum looked at me quizzically.
“Because you’d be teaching them all the wrong things, like how mushroom grows on trees!”
A tickle fight nearly ensued.

Anyhoo, decided to upload another voice recording up here. Have done quite a few recordings since the last one I posted up … quite a long time ago - but somehow, I wasn’t able to find one that is not err … very embarassing to upload.
This song is entitled 日不落 (English translation: The sun will never set) - originally by Jolin Tsai, and the best recording I have so far. Will proceed to work on more providing time permits.
So … here you go. (Remember, I will not be held accountable for any hearing damage that may result from listening to this audio!)
As usual, comments are most welcome.
Proceed to read more for the lyrics. (If you can read Mandarin, that is.)

Well, it’s no secret by now that I’m crazy over cupcakes.
Been baking them since five months ago, and slowly perfecting them - first working on the taste, then the texture and finally, the shape. I guess I’ve more or less mastered the art of ‘removing the cupcakes from the oven at the correct time so that they don’t collapse‘ since I obtain cupcakes with nicely rounded surfaces almost 100% of the time these days.
Decided to bake a batch of cupcakes for my close friends who are still in the midst of their exams, as a way to cheer them on. Because this batch was special, I decided to go one step further and attempted making some frosting.
A nice fluffy mixture of dark chocolate and melted butter did the trick just fine. Heck to all those elaborate frosting recipes I’ve seen lurking around the internet. Mine tastes just as good, if not better. Rich and creamy. Mmmmm.
And … TA-DAAH!

These are Oreo cookies and cream cupcakes topped with dark chocolate butter frosting and rainbow sprinkles, less then five minutes after they were completed.
I’ve placed them in the refrigerator, and the frosting has hardened to form a crisp chocolate shell. Now, that is what I call yummy!

I can’t seem to get myself down to studying.
My Networking notes have been opened right in front of me for the past couple of hours, but I’m looking here, there and everywhere. Plus, it is not as if I know all the study material already, so I ought to get cracking soon, right?
Noooo. Instead, Brenda opens her Wordpress in her favourite browser and starts penning a new weblog entry.
Anyway, what was it I wanted to say again? Ah, yes. Now I remember.
I was mistaken for someone younger again.
Some background information. My previous phone went kaput about three days ago (Ironic how I mentioned ‘my lousy handphone camera’ two entries back and immediately the day after, my phone decides to die. I think it died of a broken heart.) and so I had to replace it since I had plenty of project meetings during that period which made a phone an utmost necessity.
Was deciding between getting a another Nokia phone, or to make a transition to Sony Ericsson. Finally decided to stick with the former due to the familiarity.
So, I headed down to a nearby licensed Nokia dealer, already with the phone models I wanted in mind.
I picked out my new phone in almost no time at all, and the salesgirl brought it to the counter. After a while, I realized that she was looking at me rather quizzically.
“Where are you studying at now?” she asked.
“Eh?” was my initial reply, because you have to admit - it was a pretty random question.
“Are you from secondary school? Or something?”
That was when I visibly cringed, as if someone had just speared me in the butt.
“Uh oh, did I say something wrong?” The salesgirl looked alarmed while mummy dearest began cracking up beside me.
The salesgirl then revealed her own age and she turned out to be the same age as me. And yet there she was, thinking that I was many years her junior.
Perhaps it’s a good thing to look young. I’m thoroughly enjoying it, although it backfires every now and then. For instance - when I charge into a store, attempting to look menacing to lodge a complaint and all the salespeople in there start looking amused - and my complaint ends up not having its desired impact at all.
Urghh.
Anyway, back to my new phone. I named it Jerry, because it looks like a Jerry. (Okay, that didn’t quite make sense. I just think that Jerry is a really nice name for a phone.) No pictures of him, but you can see how he looks like here. (Mine’s the all black version, though.)
It’s been three days so far and I am now in a pretty serious (and stable) love-love relationship with Jerry. (Hahaha!)
Anyway, back to studying. Hopefully I’m successful this time, no?
