I have lots of gas today, coming out in all directions. (Oops, bet ya didn't need to know that.)

Brenda Tan, 21, Singapore

Believes she was born with her foot in her mouth, and sprouts the most random nonsense. Has egoistical tendencies, sticks by her principles, extremely hard-headed and a tongue of venom (when provoked). Otherwise, she's a harmless little fart. Really. Easily bribed with Starbucks' hot chocolate and colourful balloons.

TitleGirls make better men than … men.

22:53:31 | People, Random Musing | Comments writebacks (4)

If my friends and I were born male instead of female - I swear we’d make far better men than the existing men around. One phrase to describe today’s men, to sum them all up - chivalry is dead.

M and I reported for work (more exam invigilation … at 9 A.M. in the morning - an extremely unearthly time for me) and somehow found ourselves holding the glass doors open for one another at a 7-eleven store. (Imagine a glass door with two panels - me holding open one side and M holding the other side, basically staring at each other dumbly, unsure whom should go first.)

It happened again when we had to enter the building via another glass door.

That was when M concluded the whole situation with the title of this post - that girls (ahem, us) make far better men than err yes, men.

Why? Because we hold the doors open for each other (girls will most definitely appreciate that), offer to carry stuff for each other (again, another characteristic appreciated by girls) and the last quality that M swears I possess - that I swear like a bullet train. (Hehehehehe.)

In fact, it wasn’t just M and myself who would make good men.

Stef and I found ourselves somewhat stranded at the library in the afternoon after a sudden downpour and we had to part in different directions. That was when I offered to walk her to the bus stop since I had the good ol’ umbrella ella ella with me, or so I thought. (Okay, still about Brenda the MAN here but continue to read on!)

Realized later that I had already packed my umbrella ella ella into my baggage for tomorrow’s trip so I had none - which means that I can’t walk Stef to the bus stop, which also means that both us were back to square one - still trapped at the library. So much for being chivalrous. :(

Had to sit around and wait for the rain to stop in the end.

Following which, Stef offered to walk me to my destination - which was quite a considerable distance away. I agreed after a slight tussle. (Because it means troubling her, but she insisted she was fine with it.) So, she walked me to my destination. (See? Chivalrous Stef!)

And in return, I walked her to the nearest bus stop at my destination.

Basically, we were walking each other to and fro. (Which I thought was rather hilarious.)

Anyhoo, will be away for the next two and a half days or so. Will be at Pulau Sibu, Malaysia with several crazy people from early morning tomorrow, trekking (yay!), soaking up the sun (yay!), watching them snorkel and participate in water sports (because I can’t swim) and capturing photographs like mad (sunrise/sunsets there are supposed to be spectacular).

So … until then! (:

TitlePreparations, preparations.

Travelling to Pulau Sibu, Malaysia with my girls (and several other peeps I barely know) in a matter of fifteen days.

Rather apprehensive as I’m not sure how it’d turn out - a trip among supposedly five people who all know each other (with the family and extended family of one of my best friends) sudden blew out of proportion into one that includes some of her other friends as well.

Not that I mind it, neither am I complaining. I’m fine with new people as I socialize well, but I can’t say the same for certain others. (Somehow, I can’t stop myself from recalling that trip from June 2005 which turned out to be a disaster, because we have several groups of people from different places put together during 4 days, 3 nights.)

Ah, well.

Secondly, I’m a little skeptical about the resort we will be staying in. Still awaiting confirmation regarding exactly which resort we will be staying in. But findings with regard to the vague name I was given yielded two possible places - one which I will describe as being completely tattered and torn (which also has characteristics that apparently matches her description of the place more accurately) and another which is slightly more upmarket, or what I’d describe as bordering on the hinges of definitely livable.

I sure hope it isn’t the former. They only have cold showers and they use ground water. Considering how I have mud allergies and how I have friggin’ asthma which makes me ultra-sensitive to the cold, all my allergy reactions might break out into full force.

Otherwise, I’m more or less looking forward to it.

Especially the bright sunshine, the impeccable, unspoiled white, sandy beaches (or so they proclaim), the spectacular sunrises and sunsets (again, as they proclaim) and well, photography.

Methinks I’d go trigger happy in that place, especially if the scenery turns out to be as good as they claim it to be.

Meanwhile, need to go get me some stuff in preparation for this;

1) Antihistamines
2) See my favourite doc’, to seek advice on asthma/allergy prevention should we really end up living in the ‘torn’ and tattered’ resort with cold, groundwater showers.
3) Mosquito coils
4) Loads of insect repellent
5) A good pair of trekking sandals (The ones I’ve been eyeing for ages was on SALE when I saw them this evening, but unfortunately, they ran out of my size. :( Going to try my luck again tomorrow.) Got ‘em!

At present? Trying to get over a bout of errr … I don’t know. Suffered from very bad headaches + bodyaches for the whole of today with mild-moderate fever. Came this close to fainting while I was out at Parkway Parade with Mummy dearest this evening and conked out completely in the car on the way back.

Plus, I’ve been having really weird dreams as of late - harbouring on the incredible to the incredulous and to the ridiculous.

I’m starting to get really random, which is a sheer indication that I should stop typing and head to bed, non?

Good night, world! And I hope I’ll feel much better tomorrow. (Sans panadol, HATE HATE HATE relying on drugs.)

TitleLaughter in the midst of work.

One part down, another to go.

T’was a high-speed race just to get the powerpoint slides submitted by the stipulated deadline just now at 12 midnight. My heart’s still thumping even at this moment, and I can still vividly recall how I only received the final portions from another member at 11.53p.m. and how I had to add them all into the slides, format them nicely, and chuck it into an email to my prof in less than 7 minutes.

I think Mithi’s still feeling the after-effects of the trauma as well.

It’s presently 1 a.m. here in Singapore, and it’s time for me to work on the group report.

Before you rebuke me for last minute work again - let me clarify that as a group, we have had multiple disagreements on what we wanted to do, the work distribution and blah dee blah. Sounds like an excuse but no - because I make it a point to not do last minute work. Notice how it is usually the group assignments that thwart my efforts?

But ah, anyway. Let me happily blog here before I actually commence my assignment. My brain needs a short rest, non?

So, plans for a trip to Genting is currently in progress. Nothing’s been finalized yet, but ah well, it’s still a month away. Presently, the people likely to be going are mostly girls (Mithi included), and a couple.

Midway during our project meeting today;

“You know, with Irvin and his girlfriend around, we ought to book a seperate room for them,” Mithi says.

“Golly gee, good idea. I don’t want to be so bright yet,” I muttered. (Referring to how we girls were all going to become super-bright lightbulbs if we were to share rooms.)

Mithi started laughing.

“It’s more like I don’t wish to know what goes on at night,” says she.

There was silence for a moment as we proceeded on with our work, before she spoke up again.

“You know, I’m going to rummage through his stuff on the way to Genting. If I find a condom in there, I’m going to make sure I poke multiple holes in it!”

I spent the next minute doubling over in laughter and couldn’t stop for quite a while.

Okay, now it’s report time.
