TitleCasualty of the Handphone

My 3 month old 3100 Nokia handphone took a tumble down an entire flight of steps, and flew into five seperate pieces at the same time. The battery, handphone cover, backing, the keypad and the actual handphone itself went flying in 5 different directions, with me desperately running down the stairs to retrive the parts and almost tripping and falling down the stairs at the same time.

I have no idea what had possessed me to drop my beloved handphone, especially when I was about to rescue my keycard which was about to fall off my hands at that moment. To catch the insignificant keycard, I had let go something which is more valuable. How silly I am.

Thankfully, there is hardly any damage done to the handphone at the moment. The colour LCD screen is still in good working condition, and the sound and memory functions are still intact. Thank goodness. However, it would still be too early to tell because some handphone defects would take quite some time before it actually shows up. I wouldn’t know whether I would be able to take it if my little baby really ends up maimed from my horrible act of carelessness.

On another note, I had noticed something strange about my handphone during the past few months. Ever since I had signed up for the GPRS function on my phone, my phone would have a tendency to log on to the cyber network on its own, even when my keypad is locked. 8 times during the past three months, I have had horrifying shocks when I discovered that the “Ideas” website had mysteriously appeared on the LCD screen when I didn’t even log into the internet at all.

The result? My handphone bill for the past month had amounted to a grand total of $70+, when my usual expenditure would be around $20-$30+. This means that a whole $40+ had been completely wasted on the costs which had occured from my PMS-ing handphone.

I had completely messed-up my Chemistry test today, and I am dreading the moment when the results would be released. Leaving two blanks on the test paper truly isn’t a good sign, especially since the A’Level exams are approaching. The mere thought of the A’Levels makes me wish that I am still a young, cafefree Year 1 student who is still awaiting the release of the O’Level results. Even though it was only one year ago, I cannot help but to miss the anticipation which I experienced during the first three months last year.

If only I can turn back time, I would definitely rewind the clock back to January 2003 so that I can experience and relish my JC 1 life once more.

TitleThe arrival of 2004, and Jojo.

Meet the latest addition to the ever-expanding family of stuffed animals in my bedroom. Jojo is a male piglet purchased from First World Plaza, Genting Highlands on the 26th December 2003 and he now shares the most prominent spot on my shelf with K.J, the female piglet. Both of them look so happy together.

Jojo, the male piglet Aw.. so sweet!

Besides Jojo, a MOGU (TM) pillow in the shape of a puppy affectionally named as Hot Dog has also arrived in the home to keep Sotong company on my bed. A snapshot of Hot Dog can be seen on the web camera.

On another note, it is high time I started to become more optimistic about what 2004 brings about. Despite the fact that I have to fact the dreaded A Level Examinations next year, there is no point lamenting about it because every single day which comes to a pass would inevitably bring me one day closer to doomsday. Reflecting on my year end holidays, I haven’t done much studying at all, except to complete some of my school homework. Most of the vacation had been spend indulging in leisure and playtime, with schoolwork being the absolute last thing on my mind. Having to face the awful fact of having school start this Friday with piles of assignments being loaded upon me once again is just like falling flat on my face after happily flying high up in the sky.

Just imagine an egg going splat on the ground. That is exactly how I am currently feeling now.

To make things even worse, there is going to be a dog’gone Physics Faculty Test this Saturday which I am not even prepared for. In fact, I didn’t even know about it until just now. What does this mean? It goes to show that those sadistic educators out there are out to pressurise us right from day one. My hands are really itching to grab something, most preferably the necks of one of those teachers.

The change from relaxation back to mugging is simply drastic. Just look at the emotional impact between these two activities. During relaxation (vacation), the mind is at ease. Things would always be looking up, which means that the person would most probably be in high spirits, happily accepting each day as it comes and relishing every moment. On the other hand, mugging on any other school day would be extremely stressful, which is a sharp contrast with the previously mentioned relaxed mood. The person would most probably be crabby, and would become frustrated at the mere mistake they make. Every day which comes along would be dreaded wholeheartedly, and there is a high likelihood of that person living that entire day with nothing but pessimism.

That person, is me, and this person would most likely have an emotional breakdown by January the 3rd, 2004.

TitleToo many distractions.

And so I was woken up abruptly in the wee hours of the morning by the sound of my handphone vibrating. At 5:35am, to be exact. Apparently, two messages dated two days back had been received and of all times for it to reach my phone, it has to be during the time when I was happily asleep. Apparently, I was in a state of semi-consciousness as I randomly punched the keys, and now I am wondering what sort of garbled messages my friends are receiving from me now.

The stupid phone vibrated again at 9:35am when I was having a peaceful dream, and I was rudely awakened by that thing for the second time. Seriously, the urge to fling my handphone onto the floor was overwhelming, until I realised that a simplier thing to do was to switch off that &$^$%& handphone. Soon after, I drifted back to sleep, but was woken up at 10:30 by the sound of someone knocking at my door. By then, I was so frustrated that I had decided not to carry on snoozing, mainly because I simply could not have any peace.

This was then followed by a fruitless attempt to complete my remaining holiday homework. After the past few weeks of slacking, I realised with horror that I had absolutely forgotten almost everything related to Physics and thus, I struggled through the first few questions of my Physics tutorial before giving up half an hour later. That sheet of paper was filled with so many blank spots and the mere sight of it was demoralising. Furthermore, there is still so much Chemistry assignments to complete!

How on Earth can I complete everything before I leave for Kuala Lumpur this weekend?

*Glances at clock* Hmm… I still have some time left before leaving for my dental appointment. Maybe I shall try to wrestle with the Physics tutorial some more. I wouldn’t be surprised if there any new wrestlers in the WWE named “Brenda” and “Physics Tutorial” in the near future. Imagine watching Brenda VS her Physics tutorial on international television. Woohoo! I wonder who would win.

[EDITED @ 10:03pm]
The Physics tutorial won. It seemed to be grinning menacingly at me as I continued to struggle through the first half of the tutorial. Finally, I decided to give up, and there was this certain urge to fling that stack of tutorial sheets out of the window. The score? Physics tutorial - 1, Brenda - 0.

It is back to Genting Highlands for me this Thursday, and the news came so suddenly that I was caught completely unprepared. I had already written out a plan on what I would bring for four warm days in Kuala Lumpur, without a clue that I had to bring some extra warm clothing to wear in Genting Highlands. Now I’ll have to re-start all my planning again.
