TitleDesperado

Woe is me… I completely screwed up all the promotional exam papers despite 4 whole months of endless studying. Even though I had gone through almost every tutorial question for Physics at least 5 times, I left almost 40% of the Physics paper blank, accounting for almost 25-30 marks. The Chemistry paper today was also a disaster with tough questions popping out at my face each time I flipped through the pages. The time limit was also too short and despite thinking and writing as fast as I could, the Chemistry paper still had many unsightly blank spots when I handed it in. Mathematics was the only paper which went reasonably well as compared to the other two, overlooking the fact that I wrote utter rubbish for many questions in the Maths paper.

Currently, the chances of me getting retained in JC1 stands at 100.00%. No doubt about this. But I don’t want to get retained!

This is the outcome after spending a long period of time studying far before the promotional exams? Yesterday was the day where revision was most vigourous as I was glued to my notes from 10:30am all the way to 10:45pm. A twelve hour marathon! I entered the exam hall with all the info fresh in my mind. But one glance at the paper and every last bit of info was wiped out immediately, but I was not even nervous at all. It seems like a strange phenomenon which plagues every student who sits for an important exam. If this keeps on happening, there goes my hope of achieving straight As….

Two days ago, I tried searching for a method in which I can enable my brain to absorb as much information as possible. I had read from somewhere that the brain could think better if it is properly supplied with nutrients Thus, I studied on my bed with my head hanging over the edge for almost 45 minutes, thinking that making the blood rush to my head would supply it with more “nutrients”. The outcome? A whole hour of giddy spells…

This is what I call being desperate…

Oh well… at least the promotional exams are almost over. I am now counting on the Physics Paper 1 which I am sitting for this friday. 30 Multiple Choice Questions worth 60 marks in total. My Physics grade can be saved if I do well in this section. But if I mess up on this section again… the outcome should be quite obvious.

In the event that I do get retained, I am transferring out to a Polytechnic, immediately!

Title03S09 skips PE lessons… and Exam blues

Just arrived home from my Chinese Promo Exams and I only have one word to describe the whole paper. Horrendous. Although I have great confidence in the essay writing component, it was the main paper which killed me. I did not have enough time to complete one comprehension question which was worth 5 marks and my summary was filled with loads of irrelevant points. After comparing answers with my friends after the scripts were collected, I realised that most of my answers were different from my friends’, so there is a relatively high chance of me failing this subject…

So I guess that one AO subject has been messed up. Now, it is either I pass the remaining 4 subjects (Mathematics included) or else I would get retained in Year 1. I am praying hard that I would at least pass my Chinese. Even scraping through with an exact 50 would be enough to make me happy, as long as I pass.

God, help me!

My entire class skipped PE yesterday and we hid in the college library and studied for the whole one and a half hours. Since the library had a good view of the field, we would peep through the window every now and then to watch what was going on during the PE lessons. My PE group consisted only of my class, 03S11 and 03A04 and out of all the three classes, it seems that only the students from 03A04 had turned up with the other two classes disappearing. From what we can see from the library, my PE Teacher didn’t look too happy.

After all, the promotional exams are definitely more important that PE lessons, which simply involves atheletic games such as badminton and hockey. Beneficial for examinations? Absolutely no way. Even though it is only 1 and a half hours of extra study time, every second counts.

My General Paper Promotional exam is coming up next tomorrow morning. Sadly though, the GP paper happens to clash with my Cousin’s wedding tomorrow morning as well. So I would have to miss part of the festivities. Since my cousin’s house if only a 5 minutes walk away from Tampines JC, I would be heading there immediately after my paper ends. But it may seem a little strange to arrive at a wedding dressed in School Uniform. Thankfully, tomorrow would only be their tea ceremony and their real wedding celebrations would be held this Sunday.

Any tips on how to study for GP? The only study methods I have on my list are simply reading through past year essays as well as updating myself on the current events by reading the newspapers as well as the “Time” Magazine.

Speaking of those “Time” Magazines, my whole subscription is just stacking up in one corner of my bedroom and collecting dust, all thanks to my lack of interest and time to even read them… Furthermore, that subscription costed me $150++ per year. What a waste of money…

TitleMaking this short and sweet

Physics practical was held today and personally, I do not think that it went well, considering the fact that I had obtained 11.10 as the acceleration of free fall after carrying out the experiment when the exact value is supposed to be 9.81. Sigh… now I have no other choice but to buck up for the Physics main paper in order to pull the overall grade up.

After the practical, we were locked up in LT 4 since the people in the second and third shifts have yet to complete their practicals. It is a horrible feeling being stuck in there for a whole two hours, mainly because we do absolutely nothing except to just sit there until our feet can get permanently grown into the floor. At least I had enough foresight to bring the articles from my Project Work to evaluate in order to pass the time. However, time seemed to crawl by slowly despite being busy. Next time, remind me to pack a bag full of titbits and chips so that we can have a mini-picnic at the back of the LT for future pracical examinations. Somehow, it can be regarded as a “mini celebration”.

An F for my Physics practical exams… Here I come…
