TitleWebjournal Hiatus (04-09th Aug 2004)

I am sure most of you may have expected this, especially since my webjournal posts have become more and more infrequent, and not to mention halfhearted. Furthermore, I am currently overwhelmed with excessive workload, and I seriously feel that I am unable to be prepared in time for the A’Level Examinations in three months. In addition to that, I can’t help being a natural pessimist.

This webjournal is declared on hiatus with effect from today (04th August 2004), and would only return on the 09th August 2004 with a redesign provided that I am able to catch up with my personal schedule by then.

The rest of the domain, however, would still remain open for browsing.

TitleComputer Agony

I apologise for the sudden disappearance. Apparently, my computer had crashed yesterday evening hence rendering the internet inaccessible for a whole 24 hours. Managed to do a backup of all my programs and essential files in my partition drive before reformatting the computer.

How did my computer crash in the first place, thou may ask. Answer is simple — I accidentally cut the power supply. The problems which followed had left me with a huge headache, and not to mention one sleepless night agnozing about what to do about the screwed-up system.

Luckily Uncle Jack was nice enough to drop by this evening so that he can help reformat the hard drive, because I am absolutely hopeless when it comes to technical work like these. Managed to re-install Windows XP as well as all the programs I need, so my computer is back to normal. Well, almost.

I now have Firewall installed, and the endless alerts popping up with every single program I open is starting to drive me bonkers. Have a huge urge to delete the firewall program altogether, but Uncle Jack insists that it remains because he feels that my computer is rather on the ‘vulnerable‘ side.

On another note, I am starting to fall behind in my study schedule. Many topics have been skipped due to the lack of time, and now I find that there are so many chapters left uncovered when they were supposed to be completed within the past week. All these has escalated to such a extent that I am starting to neglect my assignments so that I can dedicate more time to self-revision. I, for one, do not believe that working on school-related assignments should count as a form of revision.

The last period today was that of Maths tutorial. Our usual tutor was unable to head us for the next two weeks (inclusive of today) due to reservist training and hence, he had been substituted by a young Indian teacher named Miss Padma. Apparently, my class didn’t really like her teaching style, so they decided to ‘ponteng‘ (Translation: skip) her tutorial class as a group. During the free period before said tutorial period, the many faces of 03S09 could be spotted firing the following question at one another:

Are you going for the Padma lesson?”

Somehow, the Maths tutorial sessions headed by the substitute teacher Miss Padma had become known as the ‘Padma lesson‘, a new noun invented by my beloved classmates. Sigh, I just can’t wait for Mr Lim to return so that things would come back to normal again.

TitleDomain mantainence, Random Rambling

Some minor restructuring and content updates have been underway between 11pm last night and 3pm today. All restructuring has already been completed and many aspects of this domain have been newly renovated. “Picturesque”, a new photography section has been added to this domain itself, showcasing a number of my photographs based on different themes. Another new heading, “Fantastica” is a newly revamped modification of the past visitor’s section with a content upgrade.

Old fonts in the downloads section have been completely replaced with fresh new fonts, and two new brush sets have been added for your viewing/downloading pleasure. Another new feature is the Craft section where I have placed articles of various arts & craft ideas and tutorials which I have exclusively written for this domain. All these brand new updates have involved more than five hours of hard work. After all, it had been donkey ages ever since the content in this domain had ever been updated anyway. Your opinions and suggestions based on the new updates are most welcome.

Anyway, the Physics test this morning went by rather badly. The test consisted of 40 multiple choice questions, even so, I was still unable to answer more than a quarter of them. Despite studying each and every single chapter throughly, I still found that I kept getting stumped in questions of certain chapters. For example, I left the entire section on “Circular Motion” blank, randomly filling in the answers at the last minute. Parabolic Motions was a chapter which I used to be quite good at, but it certainly didn’t show during today’s test as I got myself stuck in that section as well.

Other than that, I still have much confidence in the remaining questions to help pull my Physics grade up. Otherwise, it would be a nasty sign telling me that it is time to hit the books, or else

Heading to Ikea tonight with my parents to pick out some new furniture for the house. For the past few days, there had been much spring cleaning going on in my household as my parents scrambled around to whip the house into shape. I, on the other hand could afford to remain idle since I had already completed my cleaning one month ago. Ikea is definitely a nice place to browse for furniture, considering the huge variety which they have there. I also love the way the shop’s layout is designed as it makes the entire place look homely, just like the way my dream house would be like.
