The odd one out

Ever since she got together with him, those two would be seen together 24/7 every single day. I never fail to spot them with each other, whether in the college compounds or outdoors. These days, she only has eyes for him, and she hardly mixes around with anyone else in the college anymore.
I used to be quite close to her. To me, she was a sweet and a friendly person and we would always be chatting nineteen to dozen whenever we are together. Saying “hi” when we pass each other in the corridors used to be a very common thing and we would make plans to take the same bus home whenever our classes end at the same time. She used to amuse me, especially the way she was addicted to “Pocky” cream chocolate biscuits. I used to ask her whether she would ever find her suitable one, and she said, “Nobody in TPJC seems suitable to me, and I want to remain single”.
However, after she found him, we stopped keeping in contact. Gone are the days when we would be happily chatting and giggling with each other. Not a single SMS would be exchanged between us as well. We would only greet each other occasionally whenever we run into each other in the corridors. Otherwise, she would simply ignore me, as well as everyone else she knows when she is the companionship of him.
That is why I am constantly telling Keisha never to get a boyfriend as I have realised this particular trend. Once a good friend finds someone suitable for her, a close friendshop would be gone with the wind and you would hardly see her as often as before. This has happened to me once too many and quite a few of my close friendships had been broken up because the other party had run away and eloped with someone else. However, I must admit that they make a cute couple, and half of my classmates agree that couple would qualify as the “Most Lovey-Dovey” couple of the year.
I have also noticed another strange phenomenon which concerns this cute couple and myself. Why am I constantly bumping into them wherever I go? I never fail to spot them at the bus stop, in the bus, in the foyer or in the canteen. Wherever I go, they would always be there. There are so many times when I would end up walking behind them in the corridor or on the footpath outside my school even though I am not trailing them. It just happens and I bump into them for no reason…
There was one instance when I wound up sitting behind them in the bus and I felt so “extra” in the presence of him and her. Just like how the big guy feels in the following photograph… Sigh…

A UFO sighting?

It was early this morning at around 1:15am and as usual, I stayed up late, working in front of the computer. I was packing up everything and was getting ready to turn in when I glanced out of the window. What I saw outside wasn’t an illusion. It was real. There was this strange object with five blinking lights moving around in circles in the distance, and it certainly does not look like an aeroplane. The usual aeroplanes I see would move in a horizontal direction and it would only have two white lights at the most This particular object had three white and two bright red lights, some of which were continuously flickering away. I panicked immediately and called Keisha to come and take a look. She was shocked at what she saw as well.
Did anyone see anything similar at 1:15am last night? Especially those people who live in the East Coast area. I am not sure what that object was, but Keisha and I jumped into the conclusion that what we saw was a real life UFO. No aeroplane would travel around in such a perculiar path for no particular reason. It is definitely not a fighter jet as well, as the size of that “object” was a little too big to be an Air Force jet or even a commercial aeroplane.
So what on earth is it??
It is a huge pity that I didn’t have my camera with me at that moment otherwise I would be standing out at my balcony, busily snapping away. What was mentioned above definitely doesn’t sound believable, but I missed the one and only chance to prove what I saw by not taking any snapshots of it.
Now don’t mention that UFOs don’t exist as it hasn’t been scientifically proven yet. There may be a parallel universe out there for all we know, only that it hasn’t been discovered yet. Other than that, there may also be even more high technologically powered worlds out there in the many large galaxies which surround us. If a parellel universe really exists, I would really wonder if there would be yet another Brenda Tan sitting in front of her computer and typing furiously out there…
Or maybe I am just hallucinating… I need some sleep…

The battle with mosquitoes

Why can’t these irritating mosquitoes just leave me alone? Sitting in front of the computer for just two hours earnt me 8 mosquito bites and it is getting really uncomfortable. My house is terribly mosquito infested to an extent that I have to apply anti-mosquito lotion even when I am staying at home. One bottle of that liquid costs me almost $8.00 and even calling in the pest exterminator service to investigate this strange phenomenon doesn’t seem to help much. My household’s regular routine of spraying every corner with insecticide every morning is not very effective either.
Honestly, my house is definitely a wonderful hideout for various pests. When I walk to the balcony, especially the area near my water fountain, I would never fail to spot at least one or two cockroaches crawling around. When I walk to my dining room, spotting a whole group of tiny ants is very common. My mother’s room is infested with termites, especially the area above her dressing table. Lastly, little strange looking creatures can be seen crawling up and down my bedroom wall once in a while. I have to face all these household pest problems on top of the occasional appearances of lizards, moths and whatnot.
Also, a few wasps and bees do fly in to pay a little “visit” once in a while and they usually send me screaming and running into my bedroom to seek cover due to my huge fear of insects. At least most of these problems seem to be under control by Rentokill (a pest exterminator association) but some problems, especially the mosquito infestation still persist.
As usual, I paid my grandmother a visit as I usually do every Sunday but this particular visit seemed pretty much eventful as compared as to the usual visits.
It was only today (or yesterday, if you prefer) when Jeremiah, Matthias and I discovered that there was something really wrong with David. The problem with David is his common habit of breaking wind in public. I was counting the number of times that David broke wind today and the total count came to an amazing nine! There was one point in time when we were having dinner around the television set when David suddenly let go a huge bout of gas, causing all of us to lose our appetites immediately. After all of us regained our composure, we made sure that we were at least 5 feet away from David before we continued eating.
But it is high time that David kicks that habit, or at least try to control his bowels as breaking wind in public is absolutely disgraceful, and not to mention rude. When David breaks wind, he never apologises but would start giggling at our irritated glances… That boy will never learn…
