TitleSARS, bowling and (sigh) studies…

Finally! Chris allocated me a locker at the bowling alley, which means that I no longer have to lunge a 12 pound bowling ball to and from the bowling alley every week. However, my locker happens to be on the top shelf and therefore, I am not really able to reach the combination lock with much ease. But Chris said that she would loan me a chair to climb on each time I ever need to get anything from the locker… In the meantime, I guess that I’d just have to make do of this locker and Chris would notify me if there happens to be any new better located lockers to switch to.

Just arrived home from bowling half an hour ago. But I was not alone, instead accompanied with three huge blisters on my right hand. This means more unwanted companions for me to deal with. Sigh… This is all thanks to my sudden lack of practice in bowling due to three weeks on nonactivity. Thus, sudden burst of 4 games would be a little too extreme. Bowling scores were also not up to expectations… :(

One new confirmed SARS case in Singapore, which is kind of depressing. Furthermore, it is completely unknown where he had caught the virus from. According to the Straits Times, that man hadn’t travelled overseas in the past few months and neither had he been in contact with any SARS patients. This can only mean that he had caught the virus from someone in Singapore. Who knows? This certain someone might still be on the loose somewhere out there, infecting more innocent Singaporeans with the dreaded SARS virus. Here is an appeal to everyone who is reading this, if you are feeling unwell (especially fever), please, Please, PLEASE stay at home!

I am really lagging behind in my studies for the past few days, despite it being the September holidays. I snuggled up in bed with my Physics notes at around 2pm in the afternoon … and dozed off after half an hour. Woke up with a start at 5:30pm and realized that I had wasted a whole 3 hours of precious studying time. So, here is a lesson to be learnt: Never ever study on the bed as you would be compelled to fall asleep due to the extreme comfort.

With a wink of an eye, half of the holiday has already gone past and I hadn’t accomplished much in terms of studying. Also, there is also a Mathematics test immediately when School reopens. Argh!

I really envy those who are currently in Polytechnics. From my point of view, Polytechnics are able to accomplish loads with little pressure and an almost stress-free environment. Furthermore, Poly graduates find it easier to find a job with a diploma as compared to JC graduates, who only have an A’Level Certificate. However, this would also mean a slightly smaller chance of getting into the local universities.

As for me, I am stuck in a JC for the next 2 unbearable years of my life…

TitleThe Interview Game

I do not really have an idea as to who had invented this “game”. I only got to know about it through Bing’s domain. The five questions you see below were also from her…

Guidelines:
1. Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I will respond; I’ll ask you five questions.
3. You’ll update your website with your five answers.
4. You’ll include this explanation.
5. You’ll in turn ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.

Qn 1. What are your favourite subjects at school?
Ans: Favourite subjects include Physics and Chemistry since it involves more memory than conceptual work. Conceptual subjects such as Mathematics have the capability of making me cry…

Qn 2. What do you hope to be doing in the future?
Ans: Hopefully, I might be able to obtain a degree course either in Psychology (first choice) or Web Designing in a local university since I am too attached to Singapore. And after that, I am planning to start my own private business either as a freelance designer, or maybe to set up my own shop in Genting Highlands (for strange reasons..). And yes, still remaining single.

Qn 3. Do you think the human race is doomed?
Ans: To a certain extent. Looking at the current situation with terrorism in full force, it does seem likely that the human race is doomed, especially since a worldwide problem such as terrorism cannot be easily wiped out. Furthermore, there are frequent reports in the news which involves men killing men, even involving people as young as 8 years old. Good grief… What have people become? Furthermore, at the rate modern technology is advancing, there is a possibility of technology taking over the world in time to come, no matter how far-fetched this may sound.

Qn 4. When was the last time you gave a present and why?
Ans: The last time I ever gave a present was 2 months ago. Two, to be exact. I spent about an hour baking a box of cookies for Freda and Jia Hui to commemorate their 17th birthdays.

Qn 5. Who makes you happy?
Ans: Practically everyone can make me happy, especially if I am in a good mood. However if it happens to be one of those days, I can be easily agitated even by minor things. Yes, I am one of those unlucky people who are struck by ever-changing mood swings.

Title“David Ah! What on earth are you doing?”

Nothing much had taken place today, except for the usual studying and preparations for the Promotional Exams. Completed a few Mathematics tutorials but there were so many blanks left here and there, making me demoralised just by looking at them. The rest of the day was then devoted to doing nothing else but Physics and if I am not careful, both of my eyes might be permenantly glued onto my Lecture notes. As what Clara has said before, I am starting to turn into a muggertoad and this is something which I cannot agree less. Even when my cousin dragged me down to keep him company at the Playground, I was snuggled up on a bench, flipping through my Physics notes.

But that would definitely be temporary. Things will go back to normal once the Promotional Examinations are over as I loosen up and enjoy life once again.

I think.

David (My 11 years old cousin) really made me laugh today. Upon reaching back at my Grandmother’s house, he ran into the toilet and slammed the door. I heard him turn on the shower inside and soon after, the sound of running water was audible throughout the entire house. Thinking that he was taking bath, I decided to head for the room, thinking that everything was normal. Then I stopped short, realising that David does not have a fresh set of clothing with him.

After a while, Jess appeared and started slamming on the door because she knew that David was playing with the water in the bathroom yet again. Jess knows best as, after all, she stays with him 24/7. Jess continued slamming on the bathroom door for almost five minutes but David still refused to open it. Instead, he starting singing loudly in the bathroom. Personally, I wouldn’t consider it singing, because he really sounded like an off-pitch hyena. As Jess and I ratted continuously on his door and yelling, David just sang louder in order to drown out the sound of our voices.

Aunty Olive (David’s mother) then appeared, commanding David to open the door at that instant. David ignored her as well, continuing with his barbaric singing. After Aunty Olive threatened him, David finally opened the door with a meek-sounding “Hello”. As soon as Jess and I set our sights on him, we erupted into loud laughter. David was completely dressed, but he was soaked from head to toe. And his T-Shirt was pulled up in such a way that it covered his head with only his face sticking out. Slicks of wet hair also made their appearance near the top of his head (which was covered by the T-Shirt), making him look like a mohawk.

Aunty Olive wasn’t amused though…
