TitleHelp is here, for ye’ all who have bladder problems!

02:41:33 | Little Things, Random Musing | Comments writebacks (5)

Was in the midst of a project meeting in the late evening when a familiar ‘TING!’ sound resonated from my computer - indicating the arrival of an email in my school inbox.

On cue, the notification box popped up.

Typically, I don’t really care when emails come in since most of them turn out to be intra-school spam anyway. (E.g. Co-curricular groups promoting their events, day-to-day preaching by the higher school management and yadda yadda which I just cannot be arsed to read.)

This particular email was a from a group which called SMU Peerhelpers.

Somehow, I decided to pay attention to this one because … I don’t really know, actually.

Maybe because there was just something so blatantly wrong about their subject line? Something just looked strange, but I couldn’t place my finger immediately on exactly what. It only struck me after a few seconds.

Take a look for yourself.

FAIL!

All of a sudden, SMU Peerhelpers has transformed into SMU Peehelpers.

PEE HELPERS?!?!?

Have you seen a doctor for your bladder problems today? Bladder stones blocking the path of your usual steady stream of pee? Having problems preventing yourself from pee-ing all over the sidewalk? Maybe the pee helpers can help.

Heeheeheehee.

TitleMickey and Mojojo

13:09:42 | Little Things | Comments writebacks (5)

Relapsed yesterday, and slid into another (and still relapsing) now - just as I’m about to head to school. So I’m just sitting around, waiting for the heart palpitations and giddiness to stop before I actually do make my way down.

Anyway, I’d love to introduce my new toy - a Canon DSLR.

An EOS 450D Digital Rebel, to be exact. (Specifications here.) My little family now comprises two babies; my Canon Powershot SX100 IS, named Mojojo. And now this new fellow which I named Mickey.

Mickey and Mojojo.

Sounds like a formidable pair, huh?

Mickey is no mouse though. He’s huge … double the size of Mojojo. Mojojo suddenly looks very puny and small, although Mojojo is no mouse either.

Mojojo has served me well the past one year plus. He isn’t a DSLR, but was close to being one. I’ve learned a lot about shutter speeds and aperture settings with Mojojo. Plus, Mojojo took excellent pictures even on automatic mode (back in the beginning days when I was too lazy to explore the vast array of manual functions Mojojo had to offer).

Mojojo impressed everybody. My family, my friends. Even my fellow photography tech geeks who owned DSLRs themselves fawned over Mojojo, which made me a really happy girl, proud of her little baby.

So now with Mickey around, I’m going to ensure Mojojo doesn’t start getting an inferiority complex, non?

Mickey came along with a huge, padded Canon shoulder sling bag which had two additional compartments for lenses (of which I still have none at the moment, and am still hunting). Mojojo is presently ’sleeping’ on one of them, next to Mickey, so as to not induce any sibling rivalry.

HEHEHEHE.

Even I amuse myself with how I attribute human personalities to inanimate tech gadgets.

Mojojo and Mickey!
Mojojo and Mickey spending quality time together. ;)

I can’t wait until I’m better so that I can bring Mickey out for a test run. No wait, I still need to look around for a good set of second-hand lenses.

Feeling less dizzy now - so I shall head over to school slowly. (A ten minute walk to contend with in order to get to the bus stop outside.)

Okay ah! Mummy’s going to school now ah. You continue to stay with Mojojo okay? Don’t bully Mojojo ah! Be good boys ah!

And Mojojo, you’ve not been relegated to second place. I still love you. (:

TitleMamamia! A&E again!

23:25:35 | Daily Life | Comments writebacks (3)

Major relapse yesterday, and ended up being rushed to the A & E. (For the second time in three months, har har har.)

Was feeling faint all afternoon - but by the time I’ve finished my bath (and possibly losing 1 litre of fluid from my system through sudden diarrhea), I could barely stand up. And that was when my concerned mum flew into a panic and whooshed me all the way to Mount Elizabeth A & E.

Can’t remember much from the whole thing apart from this particularly good looking doctor. (I couldn’t believe my luck when he walked into my examination room. There were … 5 doctors on duty at the A & E that day and I managed to get him! Lucky am I!)

Possibly the youngest doctor there as well, who empathized with my situation, ordered a battery of tests and was constantly apologizing for the lag time between each one. (Because the A & E was extremely crowded yesterday.)

Arrrr! Why apologize? It’s part and parcel of being in an A & E, isn’t it?

Seems like Mount Elizabeth Hospital places their service standards as one of their top priorities - unlike government hospitals. Mount Elizabeth never ceases to amaze.

Second most distinct memory was this elderly nurse who wanted to jab me in the butt (WTF?!??). I refused, giving the excuse that it is not my nature to ‘moon’ people or flash inappropriately. (Hehehe, I can still crack jokes in this situation?!?)

The nurse was laughing throughout, constantly remarking that I was so ‘cute’, and ended up jabbing my right arm instead - and insisted that I lie down during the jab.

I wondered why, but didn’t ask.

Received the answer to my question only after the whole thing was over - apparently, it hurts like fuck. Honestly, I’ve taken loads of jabs in my entire life and this one - I can safely say, is about five times worse. You can actually feel the harsh needle prick, and the burning sensation as all the fluid goes in. (Ordinarily, I would barely feel anything.)

The nurse too, also mentioned that she made me lie down because some people might faint from the sheer pain and the last thing she wanted was for me to topple on top of her.

Hmm, so I look heavy, eh?

Went home after with a throbbing arm and extreme drowsiness. (Read: High on drugs.) Went home and konked out immediately for … nineteen hours straight. No kidding.

Whatever it is - I’ve gotten a couple of days off school with strict instructions to rest from mummy dearest.

Plus, I ended up missing a midterm exam (which I studied for over the past four days), and missed my coding deadline. Right now, my schedule is even more fucked up than before.

Just felt that I should reiterate my little A & E escapade.

Plus, I’m curious - has anyone ever received a stream of apologies from doctors/nurses alike for delays while in the A & E?

The mind boggles.
